"By adopting a child and helping them reach their potential, they help us reach ours. An adopted child is not an unwanted child; to the contrary. They are a child who was searched for, prayed for, cried for, begged for; received by arms that ached, making empty hearts full. Love is meant to be shared." Author unknown

April 22, 2016 – Beijing Arrival

Upon our arrival to Beijing, we departed the plane and headed through immigration. What looked to be a long wait turned out to move along quickly once they opened up all the lines to foreigners. From there, we moved on to get our luggage, which again went pretty quickly. Lastly, we ran all our luggage through customs. All in all, the process went smoothly!

After exiting, we found our airport guide, Jonathan who led us out of the airport and to the small bus awaiting us. Jonathan was great! He explained what the coming day would look like, apologized for George, our main Beijing guide not being able to greet us, and made us laugh. He told us of many Beijing customs vs America. Taught us how to say thank you and no thanks, very creatively I might add. We will not forget how to say no thanks, that is for sure. My oldest son was nearly in tears from laughing so hard.

After spending some time in stop and go traffic, we made it to our hotel - Sunworld Dynasty Hotel. The hotel is nice and right in the heart of Beijing. We settled in and headed out to grab dinner at KFC. I know, we arrive in China and go for American food. Well, it's not exactly the same, their menu includes some different items but we managed to get something to content us. I had a New Orleans style marinated chicken breast with rice, cucumber slices, and some sort of vegetable bits that I was not able to determine. The kids settled with fried chicken and fries.

Pictures from our drive to the hotel.

We were able to Skype with our family back home who were getting ready for school! Needless to say, we were all in bed pretty early.
