"By adopting a child and helping them reach their potential, they help us reach ours. An adopted child is not an unwanted child; to the contrary. They are a child who was searched for, prayed for, cried for, begged for; received by arms that ached, making empty hearts full. Love is meant to be shared." Author unknown

May 2, 2016 - Logan's 15th Birthday & Pearl River Cruise

First off, today was my second son's 15th Birthday - what an awesome experience he has had to begin this next year of his life!  Today did not disappoint in making it an even more memorable day.

We started the day with a dip in the pool before lunch!

This was likely Xavier's first time ever in a vast body of water!  He didn't hesitate to reach out to Michiael!  We knew from hosting Esther last summer that she too loves water!

We let Logan pick what he wanted for lunch, drum roll please = China McDonald's!!!  Then at 5:40pm, we met the group in the lobby to leave for the Pearl River Cruise.  I had heard of this opportunity but this is the first time I've ever gotten to go and it was way cool!  The weather was perfect.  Our guide ordered Papa John's pizzas for each of the families and they were delivered to the harbor before we left!  The cruise was about 90 minutes long.  Below is a small samples of the beautiful displays of lights we saw once the sun went down.

This is the other shirts I had made for these two before we traveled!  They say "Saw ya! Loved ya! Gotcha!"  Oh so true!

Birthday treats for all the adoptive families!

Xavier approved!

Our guide got twisted balloons for all the kids!

Even the birthday boy!

After eating and as the sun went down, we moved to the upper deck to experience the awesome view.  The evening was perfect for this opportunity, no smog/fog which our guide said is often an issue.

Can you say WOW!

This is Guangzhou tower!

After we returned to the hotel, a hotel staff member delivered a free birthday cake in honor of Logan's special day!  It was different than what we are used to but it was good!

What an amazing way to spend your 15th birthday!  Definitely one for the records!

Tomorrow morning we meet the group in the lobby to head for the kids' medical check ups and to get visa photos taken.  We are told this will take about 3 hours - so pretty much the entire morning.  Guess I better pack plenty of snacks.
